RHONDA COLLIER

(Physical Therapist - First Steps Director)

I truly love what I do and am proud to be part of making a difference in the lives of little ones and their families. I am sensitive to each child/family’s needs and emphasize the child’s strength to build upon. I incorporate fun play activities to help each child attain challenging skills.

I have been involved with First Steps since its inception being invited on the first Johnson County First Steps Council. I co-founded Rhythm and Reins Therapy Services utilizing hippotherapy as a treatment strategy between 2013 and 2020 as an option in addition to or after First Steps.

I have 35+ years of experience working with babies and toddlers and I attend continuing education courses regularly to increase knowledge and skill level. I was one of the first group of therapist to complete the Family Guided Routines Based Intervention trainings (FGRBI). This coaching model helps us partner with each parent to maximize positive changes.

I have the parent perspective as my own children have had medical challenges and one received First Steps services. My wonderful aunt had Down Syndrome and was an amazing influence in my life. She taught me joy, perseverance, acceptance, and to seize the moment daily. I strive to provide a positive, caring approach and would be honored to work with you and your child.
